Heh, figures. My friends are all convinced I'm a closet Pagan anyway... May be... Except for the part where I don't believe in organized religion.

While the end result of that quiz was semi-accurate (by that I mean it was only 3 away from what I actually believe and practice) the answers available for each question are extremely flawed. If you believe a certain way and believe that way is not open for debate, question, or flaws (ie. if you are intolerant to all other faiths) then each answer provided in that quiz is too open-ended, given to multiple meanings and ideas.

But hey...if you're just looking to have some fun with another random quiz...pay no attention to my ramblings.

Yeah, I've taken this test before. (on this site) Personally I think Unitarian Universalism is a crock and the only reason I fit into it is because of how tolerant I am of other beliefs. I'm secular humanist all the way. I believe it is my duty to contribute to the betterment of the species.

One thing I really didn't like in this poll was the absolute lack of a distinguishment between atheism and agnosticism. "The answer is always no/I don't know/I don't care" is lumped together as one option for the whole first page.

Most of the tenants of Unitarian Universalism just make me shrug and say "I don't know that! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!", but these parts were of interest:

Why Evil?
Most do not believe that humanity inherited original sin from Adam and Eve or that Satan actually exists. Most believe that God is good and made people inherently good but also with free will and an imperfect nature that leads some to immoral behavior. Diverse beliefs. Some believe wrong is committed when people distance themselves from God. Some believe in “karma,” that what goes around comes around. Some believe wrongdoing is a matter of human nature, psychology, sociology, etc. <- I'm inclined to hope for the part I've underlined here. Indeed, I don't assume it to be true, but it would be my first guess as well.

Salvation
Some believe in salvation through faith in God and Jesus Christ, along with doing good works and doing no harm to others. Many believe all will be saved, as God is good and forgiving. Some believe in reincarnation and the necessity to eliminate personal greed or to learn all of life’s lessons before achieving enlightenment or salvation. For some, the concepts of salvation or enlightenment are irrelevant or disbelieved. <- I tend to hope for one of these two scenarios, more or less.

Undeserving Suffering
Diverse beliefs. Most Unitarians do not believe that Satan causes suffering. Some believe suffering is part of God’s plan, will, or design, even if we don’t immediately understand it. Some don’t believe in any spiritual reasons for suffering, and most take a humanistic approach to helping those in need. <- I feel pretty sure in many cases it's no one's fault, or certainly not that of those that recieve it. Maybe sometimes it is, but... in any case, helping somebody is almost always a good thing, unless that help enables more harm than good.

Contemporary Issues
The Unitarian Universalist Association’s stance is to protect the personal right to choose abortion. Other contemporary views include working for equality for homosexuals, gender equality, a secular approach to divorce and remarriage, working to end poverty, promoting peace and nonviolence, and environmental protection. <- Ah, this must be where this one wound up highest on the result list. The only part there I have mixed feelings about is abortion, but I do think if it's done early enough, in some cases it might very well be for the better. But I don't know for sure. Everything else in this category, I back completely, however...

Interesting poll, but it doesn't seem very geared towards agnostics taking it.

#6 should be correct, but I can understand why it was placed there. The test assumes that Roman Catholic is ultra-conservative Christianity, while I still say I am a Roman Catholic but have a more liberal view of Christianity. For example, I said that Baptism isn't important, I believe that the change inside someone is more important than the ritual. It said Quaker because I am always for peace. I think I misread one of the answers about creation, because I believe in evolution, but also believe that God initiated the chain of events. I put something else, and that is why seventh-day adventist shows up. err. At least Scientology is at the bottom.

it listed roman catholic as #6 for you because your personal beliefs do not match up to the defined beliefs of the church, no big deal
