Another zquest running problem

My cousin is trying to run zquest-w.exe but when he opens it he says all he can see is a black screen with a grey box in it with lines in it. He also tried to send me a screenshot but it got rid of all of the visual stuff when he pasted it in paint. Has anybody had a problem like this before and has solved it?

no idea what menu your talking about.... tried everything, he says the mouse doesn't appear. All he says he can see is a big grey box in the middle of a black screen and at the top there is like a box that looks like this [ - - - - - ] at the top of the screen where file, quest, tools, ect. is supposed to be displayed.
