No, no strippers in Baghdad.

Anyway, I know some of you like the occasional update, so whatever. I've been off of leave for about two months now. It was really hard leaving home again, saying goodbye again, but it had to be done. I played The Minish Cap to keep me from going nuts on the way back. I got back from leave and as soon as I walk in, they tell me to unpack, and repack because I had to take a trip up to Retrans Hill for a couple of weeks of secluded hell. Its boring, there isn't much to do other than play video games, and when you walk down the hill to get food or use the showers or whatever, you're sniper fodder. Luckily, I didn't get shot at, but there had been sniper fire on the hill about a week earlier. It gets a little stressful at times, knowing you might die, but whatever.

Well, during my stay on the hill, I got news that my brother broke his back, my wife is having problems getting dental insurance, and other normal at home bullshit that I can't do anything about or help with or whatever because I'm over here. To top it off, I forgot to shave one morning, and my platoon sergeant decides to show up. Remember, Retrans Hill is about a 40 minute drive through Baghdad to get to from my camp, so a visit from someone you know isn't expected. I got in trouble for not shaving, and then a couple days later, I got caught again. Serves me right for forgetting. I really shouldn't have forgotten, I mean, that was kind of a dumb ass thing for me to do.

Then the radios go down one night and the whole battalion loses communications with the HQ. Naturally, panic ensues. Thankfully, nothing bad came from it. I'm a computer guy, not a radio guy, so I didn't really know what I was doing when I tried to fix it. The radio guy was sleeping at the time, and I thought I could handle it. I didn't handle it very well.

But, a week or so later, everything settled down and I got to come back to the camp and my computer was waiting for me. I had to get it fixed when I was on leave and it wasn't ready for me before I went back to Iraq, so I had gone awhile without it.

Don't let this post fool you, I'm doing good for the most part. I'm looking at a promotion here in a month or so, so I'm pretty stoked about that. Anyways...The End.

You still need to shoot a couple ragheads for me.

Glad everything is going well enough. Good luck the rest of the way and God Bless.

Sniper fodder eh? Sounds like an exciting story, though I'm sure that's how you think of it. Anyway, glad to hear you're doing well. My dad's in Bahrain right now, after serving a year in Baghdad, and while it sounds like theres more to do in Bahrain than near Baghdad he's pretty much done it all, so it's boring. You'll be out of there relatively soon no doubt... when are you scheduled to come back anyway? Take care.

Stay alert and keep safe! I don't wanna see you stop posting here, you hear me? I mean, Im in no position to boss you around, as I couldnt even fill half of your shoes. But an AGN without you wouldnt even be AGN. At least not to me...

I'll never understand how people like you can keep going. You're the backbone of the world. Good to know you're doing ok (ish) and hope you stay that way.

And if you're stuck for things to do, try turning your adventures into a comic strip. I can just imagine the hilarity of Private (I'm don't actually know your rank, hope that's it) Anthony getting told off for having not shaved, then taking his revenge by supergluing a broom to his commanding officer during the night.

I hope you'll get your promotion, I'm pretty sure you will. Sorry about your and your family's troubles. It's ok to forget to shave, but never forget to be careful and stay safe, Tony.

Yeah darlin... don't forget to be safe... and careful. I, very much, enjoy reading your updates and little tidbits about stuff you tell us.

<hug>
love you!

So, will it be SPC Anthony or CPL Anthony?

SPC Anthony...Unfortunately, signal guys don't get CPL very often. We have one Corporal, but he's assigned to another company and he's a radio guy. I'm a computer guy, and theres only two of us. If I got CPL, I'd outrank my supervisor.

Aha! SPC Anthony gets promoted and now outranks his supervisor, making him do all sorts of crazy things! Eh, why am I telling you to do a comic, I could do it like that.

SPC... what exactly does that stand for? Sounds pretty cool, but I'm stupid, so it's probably not.

Specialist. One rank below Sergeant.

Specialist. Sounds like something from Team Fortress. And ANOTHER comic idea. Hell, now I'm really gonna have to do this. You'd be Tony on GNET, right? Yeah, the hair gives it away. Putting pen to paper...
