You can't get a website? There are TONS of free hosts out there (my favorite one being Freewebs (http://www.freewebs.com/). Maybe you didn't look hard enough .

Open the file manager and upload a quest.(make sure you put that quest in a zip file first.) then, once it's in your file manager, right click on view, and Copy the shortcut. you are now holding the link to your quest!

Oh...my. Not to sound too harsh, but... ouch. It kinda screams out 'No0b!' The music is a definate no-no, and you might want to consider changing the background images so you can actually see the text..!

EDI: The above mentioned, I though some of the joke's were kinda funny.

Brain damagingly annoying music embedded in page: Check
Horrible design: Check
Unreadible titles and subtitles due to horrible design and distracting background images: Check
Total lack of useful content: Check
2nd news post ever declaring lack of updates and impending vacation: Check

Wow, what a useless, annoying website.

Yes, but it's also obvious he's just used one of those default page-making programs you get when you sign up with these things. We've all done one in our time, though I will admit to not having some god-awful music playing in the background of mine.

Still, given time, maybe he could do something with it. Maybe learn some HTML, get Paint Shop pro and redo the thing when he's got some time. A bit like I did, really.

Posting just for the sake of advertising is not allowed here at AGN. However, it seems that constructive feedback in this case may be more helpful than any warning. I will however merge this with the existing thread about said website.

Ah. I wondered why the number of posts in the thread had suddenly doubled.

I see you've tweaked the site a bit, but it's still not that great. I think the first thing you need to do is to remove the music and the background image. You may think they're cool, but believe me, they're really not. They give off a very newbie feel and it's just going to drive people away. You've changed the text, and that looks pretty good, but I can barely see the maroon-coloured link to your e-mail address. Try making that a brighter shade of red.

Next, and I cannot emphasise this enough, GET RID OF THE HUGE TEXT. It may grab people's attention, but it also puts them off as well. Rather then making it big, try changing the colour - a sensible colour, mind. Neon pink is not the way to go.

Then get rid of that weird cursor thing. You know, the funny little trail that zooms in on the cursor. Nobody likes those. Nobody.

EDIT: At the time of writing, this doesn't appear on the main page, which is good, but it does on the sub-pages, which is not. Kill it.

After that, your site should be much more presentable. Stick with it, you'll get there in the end.

Just a note - Edit your posts rather than double-posting.

Your site is coming along well. Be aware of the contrast between your text and background, your email link is tough to read. Can you clarify your question about the links?

Had another look at your site. Much better. I don't have to turn off my speakers now :) Still can't read your e-mail address though, might want to look at that.

Word of advice - don't pick on other forum members, especially ones who have been here a lot longer then you. They will crush you. I've seen it happen on other forums and I have no doubt that it can, and will, happen here as well.

With regards to that picture link request. I'm guessing here, but I suspect what you're after is a link or small thumbnail which, when clicked, opens into a full-sized picture. Have I got it, or am I way off course? And as for your clan idea, I think you're a little new for that sort of thing!

Glass Cleaner
07-30-2005, 05:28 PM
No I am not picking on him at all hahaha! I know not to do that. I was just telling him that I will type like this next time. And yes, you are right on track with the link stuff thanks! Can you tell me?

Darth Marsden

Right. I'm going to take some actual code from my website, modified a little. Here it comes!

<A Href="Sketch/Kris01.jpg">
<Img Src="Sketch/01.jpg"></A>

<A Href= is what tells the web browser that you're opening a link. Don't forget the closing > at the end of the line.
<Img Src= is what tells the web broswer that we're going to be putting an image onscreen. Because we've already said that we want a link, however, the picture itself becomes the link. AGain, remember the >
</A> closes the link. This is important, as otherwise half the document will become a huge link, and we don't want that.

Now to go into a bit more detail about what each line actually does.

The first line, <A Href="Sketch/Kris01.jpg">, is the link that the thumb-nail will take you to. In this example, the picture in question is this one (http://homepages.tesco.net/steveemarsden/Sketch/Kris01.jpg), which I drew a few months ago. You will want to change the filename to whatever name your picture has, as well as make sure that the link makes sure to look for the image in the right place. If you have put all your images in a subfolder (as you see I have done, and is recommended if you have a lot of pictures), then just put that folder in the code - IE: <A Href="Pictures/Kris01.jpg">. If the picture is in the same folder as the webpage, then you cut out the Pictures/ bit, so that it just reads <A Href="Kris01.jpg">

The second line refers to the thumbnail. As you can see, I've put the thumbnails in the same subfolder as actual picture we're linking to, but there are two differences to the first line. The first is the <Img Src=, and the second is the filename. Rather then linking to the main picture, we're linking to a different one, which is much smaller and is used to preview the main picture (Yes, you guessed it - it's the thumbnail!) Again, make sure the link actually matches up to where you've put the thumbnail file.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need some clarification, I'll be more then happy to help.
