Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/)

Google released the beta version of their keyhole satellite software today. This thing is awesome! I can make out my car in the driveway (barely.) Check it out, it's free. keyhole.com costs you like $20 a month for the same thing.

I downloaded this yesterday and played around with it. It's pretty bad ass. I could see my apartment building crystal clear. I also took a peek around New York, Chicago, and Washington DC, all cities I have never been to.

Check out 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, Bel. It looks like they cut off the top of the White House!

I Just found Area 51 by using Latitude and Longitude points.

EDIT:
I got that yesterday, cap2030 . Try again in a few minutes.

My house is a mere blur to Keyhole, since I live in the middle of nowhere. All the surrounding towns are of extremely low resolution, too.

For the last couple days it has been down every time I try to get it.

Is it small enough to zip up and email?

I don't think it can zoom in that closely to my pants.

Load this placemark to visit my favorite place ever.I should have guessed, you poor man. Here's one (http://www.odufaigh.org/crap/other.kmz) that makes good use of my favorite feature, the tilt control.

O...k... I download it off that mirror and it says something about account activation when I load it. I don't see any thing about that in the program or on the site.

I was getting shit like that too yesterday. Something about not being able to log in. But when I tried it this morning, it worked fine.

"We were unable to connect to the Google Earth servers to activate your account." Same problem here. Even logged into my GMail account and it didn't help. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait until 4 AM when less people are on.

Google Earth is available for public download once again. If you haven't played with it yet, nows your chance.
