Links Nightmare help

I could use some help on Links Nightmare. I need to know, Do you need the "bow" to beat Level 2? If so where is it? :confused:

Ok, I feel kind of stupid here, because usually I can get thru at LEAST the first 3 levels of a game before asking for help...but....ummmm, I'm in level 1, (still haven't gotten the sword yet) and I get to the room on the map where it's flashing red, I kill the enemies in the room, and the left & right doors open. The right door leads me back to the beginning of the lvl, and the left door leads me back to the room that's flashing red. What am I supposed to do? Can anyone help? thanks!! :confused:
