How to use sword ?

I just installed latest version of Zelda classic...but I don't know how to make the sword work when first getting it...
How do you do this?
I played the legend of zelda on nintendo...but the pc version is different...what keys make the sword work etc...are there any
tutorials that state this and other helps?

you press the button you have for A.

yes I figured it out, after finding a walkthrough/manual

but this only works after you first configure the A button and the others...then it works.
It doesn't work out of the box install until you do this, which I think you should include a help file with this program, other then that, I like it. I'm a software developer perhaps if someone can help me with some manuals etc...i can create a help file for it in CHM format.

which i think the developer should have this default setting work out of the box, instead of first setting the buttons
