Hello,

I'd like to make a game (quest) using ZC.
But I have no idea how to use this thing. I have almost all of
the sprites and graphics I need for it. I wanted it to be in the
style of LTTP. If someone would please help me and at least explain to me how to get started, I would put them in as a character in the game, in my gratitude.

Thank You,
Shinami

This is casealphadawg's ZQuest tutorial. (http://www.casadealphadawg.com/zc/zqtutorial/contents.html) It should show you what to do.

Also, if you're looking for tilesets, MIDIs, or other ZQuesting things, check out www.purezc.com.

Also there is a tutorial that goes into more advanced things like tips for making custom bosses, but it leaves most off the basics out and sorry but idontknow how to make a link! But it's called idontknow's tutorial and theres a link to it some where on this board though  ...

The reason why it is asking for a password is because you are trying to open a passworded quest.

I don't remember exactly because I use Pure, (and I really don't like the BS set) but to get the BS graphics for your quest you can open up examplebs1st.qst (because that one shouldn't have a password) and then export the graphics pack, or the tileset or whatever.

Start up a new project, then import your graphics pack or tileset or whatever, and then you will have BS graphics.

this is a dumb question, but, how in the world do i import a graphics pack or loose tiles? what format do they have to be in? and where can i access them after i import them?

also examplebs1st.qst does have to have a password.
Oh and it's vs. 2.10 for windows i'm using.

please help.

the midis work fine though.

I see... someone else had this problem. I have v 1.92 b183 and I have an unpassworded examplebs1st. It might have even came from v1.90 which was the first one I had. I can't help with any v2.10 things because I can't get it to work on my computer.

Also, try not to double post! And, yeah it does have a password for some reason.

what do you mean double post?

It's when you post two messages consecutively i.e.:

ok I'll try that
thanx

Then:

Instead, it is suggested that you use the "EDIT" button you see right below your post. This way you can say additional things without double posting.

oh i'm sorry i don't really know how all this works yet.
i didn't know you could do that.
is there anything wrong with double posting?

thank you for explaining that to me

It just helps the forum stay organized and uncluttered.

As long as you’re learning, there's no problem.

To open a graphic pack (.zgp), got to File->Import->Graphic pack, and click the files you want.

For loose tiles (.bmp, .gif, .til), go to Quest->Graphics->Tiles, find a free page, and click Grab. Select the file you want, then pick the tiles you want from the picture, and press enter.
You'll probably need to recolor them after, though.

all the tilesets i find are .qst files. and i can't access any loose tiles other than the original LOZ. all the others come out like colored tv snow.

try opening them in zquest themselves. (file -> open)

I know I'm double posting, but, I know no one would actually stop and look at this if there wasn't a new posting.

Sorry.

Anyway, I've read the tutorials, but still two things are unclear to me.
One, I can only open the tilesets, not import them. Two, I've made a ton of custom sprites and tiles, but I don't know how to import them or even if that's possible.

Like I said before, in my gratitude, I will make anyone who at least responds, a character in my quest.

Please help, and please forgive me for double-posting

To put the custom sprites and tiles in your quest. On the toolbar to the side of the screen with the tiles on, go down to a red square, right click on it and then click on the black box at the top and a big screen with all the tiles will come up. Click on the tile that you made, and it will then appear on the toolbar to the right, so you can use them in your quest.

AS for the other one, i dont know. Sorry!
