At the office we just bought one from lowes. It's wall mountable and perfect size for about anything you would need.

what do you plan on doing with it? that really determines what you need.

i want it to be able to handle a nail gun, for future use, but as of now its normal everyday cleaning computers blowing up tires. I want to invest somewhat ot make sure it can handle some tools.

a framing nail gun, a finish nailer, or a brad nailer?
for a framing nailer or roof coil nailer, you're going to want something at least 3hp, with about a 5gal tank. That's AT LEAST. You'd be much better off with a hotdog compressor, with a higher horsepower tank than a pancake compressor with the same.
For a Full size finish nailer, 6-10d finish nails, you'll want a similar compressor to a framing nailer.
for a simple brad nailer, (15-18ga strip nails) a 3 gallon tank with a 1-2 hp motor would be sufficient, although it's always much easier if you have a bigger tank, with a faster motor.
Think of it this way: The larger the tank the more compression it can hold.
The more powerful the motor, the faster it can recharge.
And finally, just about any compressor available, tankless or otherwise, is suitable for inflating tires.
