Daniel Robert Eckels was born today, May 17th, 2005 at around 4:10pm.

He arrived about three weeks early of his due date of June 10th. He weighs in at 5lbs, 4oz. His poor mother was in labor for about 14 hours, 6 hours of intensely painful contractions, but in the end only about a half hour of pushing. It was a natural childbirth, without the use of demerol, or an epidermal. (not so much a choice, as a fear of needles, which I too share).

He's an absolutely beautiful baby. I have nothing else to say but that this is a great day of my life.

My fear of needles quickly faded when I got contractions. I fear pain, more.

we just got home actually, about two hours ago. mama is feeling wonderful, and baby is doing great! We (my mother, my grandmother, and myself) spent all morning cleaning up the house to prepare for the arrival, and I picked her up at about 1:00. we got home around 2.

I'll post some more pictures later tonight.

BTW, amazingly he is one of the most well tempered babies in the world. He's not much of a cryer. In fact, all the nurses who tended to him sang praise of his wonderful quiet manner.

Well, mom's still very tired, and I think she might be getting a little sick due to the exhaustion. Daniel is doing well though.
Last night, I got some good sleep, but his mom was up with him for most of the night. Today, she's been sleeping, and I've been taking care of him with the help of my mother. Tonight I'll probably sleep again, and the cycle will continue :)
