I start the game and get bombs from Toad but then I don't know what to do. I got the bowl of ?soup? now what?

Come On guys I'm stuck. I can't go anywhere cause there's no where to go. What is with the bowl?

Soup Bowls do absolutely nothing... they're just there.

One screen south of the soup bowl, go east. There you will find a shop with a Samus (Dodongo). On that screen is a Leaf. That is your Wooden Sword is this game. That should get you going.
