check out cingualr.com If I had your area code, it would be much easier to find it for you.

the area code shouldnt make a big difference.. its just the phone and general reputation of the phone...

Yeah, don't buy brands that aren't generally known for phones. I have a Nokia something or the other that was like $50 with my 1-year commitment. I haven't had a lick of trouble with it.

There are Nokia flip phones...... In Australia at least. I couldn't see any on Nokia.com

http://www.nokia.com.au/nokia/0,,59753,00.html
http://www.nokia.com.au/nokia/0,,57295,00.html - (CDMA, not compatible over there to my understandings, but a flip phone nonetheless)

Some of them aren't triband, and won't work over in the USA. You would need a GSM 900/1800/1900, not a GSM 900/1800.

Have a look at the American list of mobiles compared to the Australian list, and see why Nokia go after the Australian teenager market. Almost every single teenager down here has a mobile phone.

As for your reception, it might have more to do with Cingular than anything...yeah, any Cingular I had sucked balls. I'm dropping Cingular as soon as I get back to the States.

I'll ask AA, she'll know exactly what you need.

She worked for their marketing department for 2 weeks recently before she told them to dick off.

Actually, you must be in a well covered Cingular area. Everywhere I went, I got dick for reception, and I've had two different phones with them, one Motorolla, and one LG, and my wife has the same problem, and hers is a Mororolla as well. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for a service that doesn't give me what I expect as Cingular hasn't.

I know that Georgia isn't well covered with Cingular (cell phone antennas and shit), thats the last mistake I make in not looking at coverage.

My samsung phone has done well for me. I've dropped it many times onto hard floors and it still works fine. Also, I've never had bad reception. It's a verizon phone though. Perhaps they might make them for cingular as well.

You could try CNet Reviews (http://reviews.cnet.com/Cell_phones/2001-3504_7-0.html), particularly a flip search (http://reviews.search.com/search?q=flip&nodeid=6454&format=customlayout&channel=54&cat=312&mode=products&allfields=0&k=56381623).

Just for another opinion I am now on Cingular since AT&T was bought and I don't have any troubles at all, even in rural Mississippi.

I think part of what determines your signal is whether you get a GSM phone or not. Simply put, the US has horrible GSM coverage. Granted, we have a much larger area to cover and we aren't as fanatical about our phones as Europeans are but today's GSM coverage is only slightly better than the cell coverage 10 years ago (at least in my region).

Heh, I probably should have read the first post more thoroughly. However, my point remains that I have had no problems with it at all.
