Found this lil' gem by way of a thread over at Acmlm's (http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=10987) last night, and I'm already hooked on it. :odd:

Download the game here (http://sourceforge.net/projects/armagetronad/).

Basically, its a clone of the Tron light-cycle/wall-building scene (although I first encountered this type of game in Surround on the Atari 2600...). You drive a bike, can only turn at 90-degree angles, and leave a wall behind you. Any player who runs into any wall is dead, and the round continues until only one player is left.

Unlike most clones of this type of game, here you can speed up by driving close to other players' walls. This adds an interesting strategy to the game--you really have to think about where you leave walls, or the other players may take advantage of their newfound speed to box you in (though it is near-impossible to box a player in completely, you can still force them to drive through tiny gaps as their only means of escape).

Despite all this, the game is surprisingly simple to play; I've already managed to figure out most of the bots' tricks and beat them at the highest difficulty setting with medium to little trouble. (Though it may be that the bots are just weak, but...eh. :p)

Anyone up for getting on AIM or something (my AIM nick is HypercrashAG) to set up a game or three? I'm usually online late at night, starting around 10:30 to 11:00 EST up until I get too tired...:p

Is this different from the original Armegatron? I have that version, and the sound and graphics packs, but it's been a while. Very fun, though I've never played it with other people. Computer AI wasn't exceptionally good, either, but... I'll check this one out later tonight and see if it's different.

About god damned time that someone made an updated version of Armagetron. The 'wall speedup' spoiled me, I was totally unable to play other tron clones after trying that.
