Starting with version 2.2.0 this option is no longer allowed on Public versions of the server. The port will default to 3784. If you use a router to forward the connection from the outside internet to your internal private network then the external port must also be 3784.

the only problem I've run into on Ventrilo is the 8 person max server size for the VoIP. sadly, the government has to run things a certain way, and ventrilo can't authorize a voip liscence for more than that :S

I hope this is a big success though. is it on the same port?

the server name with the default port is good enough, it works for everyone so far

... Psht, yeah, everyone but me. :sweat: I keep having absurd problems. I have this cheaparse headset (doesn't even have a brand name.) with the microphone in a little, tiny compartment below the left earphone, ... just doesn't transmit my voice. Well, it's nice hearing you guys anyway. :p I'd love to participate, but just know that I'm there with you guys in spirit! ^_^; Heh.

Just get a 10 dollar microphone from best buy. it's not the best, but it still works.

Have you lost touch with your culture, man? I have to have the flashiest, sexiest piece of kit there is or I won't be satisifed. It needs to look futuristic and maybe have an LCD screen or something on it.

Oh and bonus points if it has MONSTER cables, I don't want dirty data going into my ears. *edit* at least not from you guys

I find the cheap solutions tend to be the best. Since it's Voip and not Dolby Digital, you can talk through the shit Windows98 mic and get the same sound as if you were in a recording studio. Same for the sounds coming your way from the server.

Unless you're going to use this for some other purpose, don't worry about the quality :rolleyes:

Yeah Ventrilo only has a max 8 users. So you have to wait for someone to sign off =/

The server is going to be down part of the day today. I need to fix my server because I am having some major issues that keeps causing it to crash. I'll edit this post when it is fixed.

If you guys want to join in, put 68.12.75.35 as the server you join in. However, you are going to need the newest version of the client. Go here: www.ventrilo.com/download.php Sean's server is far from stable, so I started hosting one some time ago but am only just getting around to posting about it. If we get more than 8 active users, we can go back to an older version that allows any number of users into the server. So, if you plan on being active, please post here.
