I finally got my GBA movie advance, and I need a converter to make WMA's into WAV files. It'd be greatly appreciated. If anyone could point me to one thats free, that'd be great.

Windows Media Player. Just save it as a .wav =o

GOOGLE (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=+Needing+a+converter+wma+to+wav&btnG=Google+Search)

I am sure there is something there...

Masa, that doesn't work. I just tried. No other file types available.
Lutra, I obviously tried that already. Know how google works? Bigger sites pay to get to the top. bigger sites charge. I'm looking for an easy, smaller simple converter. preferably, one that works with a bulk of files at once, and can also convert MIDI's... :D

EDIT: God, I'm an idiot. I found one. A friend pointed me in the right direction - http://www.litexmedia.com/wma_to_wav.html
Not done DLing yet, but if anyone knows of one that will convert MIDI's, thats relatively small, that'd be great.

EDIT: Yeah, that one sucks. can't convert more than 5 at a time without paying, alot of features don't work, the usual. so the request still stands, I need a converter. thanks. :)

No. All you need to do is save it as all file types and add .wav at teh end. =\

Google doesn't work like that. People can't buy positions. The whole point of Google was to rank sites based on the number of lnks to it. The algorithm has evolved and has become pretty complex. They can use techniques to make there site more appealing criteria they use.

Anyways:

download.com and just do a search for the converter. That's what I did to convert the UT songs from OGG to MP3.

Mostly likely you'll hit up good program with a trial version.

No. All you need to do is save it as all file types and add .wav at teh end. =\ Will that actually be a .wav, or will it just be a wma with a .wav extension? I'll give it a shot when I get home from school, as well as the other stuff here. thanks.
Yes thats how google works. We spent 2 weeks talking about Search engines in webpage design. Yes, the sites are ranked on hits, but the site can also get itself higher by paying.

Google's algorithm does not allow people to pay for site ranking by default, but abuse of the algorithm does allow for pay sites to dominate. Here's one example. (http://www.google-watch.org/woodard.html)

Though Google claims it is using the "uniquely democratic nature of the web", sites with high PageRank give more credit for their links than sites with low PageRank. So if I'm part of a commercial network, I can get my commercial partners (with high PageRank) to link to me for a while and get my rank boosted rather quickly, whereas your average personal site will remain buried on page 2. What kind of democracy lets some people vote more than once?

Anyway, there are some conversion programs but none I was impressed with, save one. A little-known feature in Winamp is the Nullsoft disk writer plug-in. When you switch your output from DirectSound to the disk writer, Winamp plays the playlist as fast as possible and writes anything it plays to disk files in formats you can configure. I'm fairly certain Winamp plays WMA, so this could be your solution.

I can post more detailed instructions tonight if you wish.

...but for MIDIs, it goes allright for a few seconds, then it speeds up to over triple speed.
For some basic MIDI-->WAV conversion get jetAudio

More details would be great, as what you say seems to make sense, but I really have no idea what your saying. XP

I dunno. That sounds alot more credible than lutra's explaination. I'm just goin' with what my webpage design teacher claims, and it makes sense.
But yeah, I always figured that was how all search engines work, guess maybe not.

Yes, Winamp will probably be your best bet. I don't remember the specific steps, but I do remember that it works very well.

And yeah, Winamp plays WMA's.

Winamp can convert files too? wow? I mean I know it can play any format that's out there right now? Hmmm might test some things out then.

Oh, for chrissake...

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

It converts almost any audio type into any other audio type. It has a right-click context menu built in to windows, like this:
http://img139.exs.cx/img139/1649/convertto3ld.jpg

It can also rip audio from cd's. This is what you need. The end.

now, if what you want to do is record into wav from ANY audio, (including midi) you should get the program 'total recorder'. it only lets you record the first 40 seconds without paying, but im sure you could easily find a way to get it working fully for free. i did somehow, and with minimal work. it is really an excellent program. instead of converting the files, it records them the same way you would record a tape. you turn on the program, press record, and then play your audio file. any sound coming out of your speakers from that file only will get recorded into wav format.
