I would post this on the official forums, but their forums have been acting weird and new members don't have permission to post new topics. Maybe it will be fixed soon. Oh well.

Is it possible for one person to be playing the single player game while another is playing CS:Source online from the same IP address? I know they both have to connect using steam, but I didn't know if it kept track of whether the single player CD key is in use or not, and I didn't want to test it out in case they ban my key.

if you we're playing HL2 in offline mode while the other computer logged into steam and played CS:source you could.

To play offline mode you have to have logged in at least once and have the whole game installed. Before you also had to have the remember password thing checked but I think valve removed the need for it with last steam patch.
Then simply start steam without an internet connection or block it from connecting to the servers with a firewall.
If it cant connect it will ask you if you want to play offline.
You can then play HL2 and other computer can log on with no problems.

I didn't know Steam had an offline option. Thanks, it works great.
