3. Changed the following items:
-Bomb: Remote-controlled bomb. Press B once to drop it. Press again to detonate.
-Super bomb: Motion-sensing super bomb. Press B to place it. It will detonate if anything is or moves near it after it arms (the normal amount of time it would normally take it to explode after being placed). This includes Link.
-Potion: Poison. Makes you dizzy. Drink it once and the screen goes all wavy, Link staggers around, occasionally switches and uses different weapons, and usually ignores the controls. If you drink the poision while you are still poisoned, you die. This can even happen accidently while Link is staggering around, randomly using things.
-Magic Wand: Homing fireball wand. Shoots fireballs that will attack the closest non-invincible enemy. Fun to use on a screen with a zora. It will hover over where the zora is until it surfaces. If it gets there after the zora submerges, it will hover there until the zora moves, then usually go to the new location.
-Candle: Flamethrower. Hold down b and you will constantly shoot a stream of fire. You can even walk while using this, though you will move a lot slower. The red flamethrower shoots fire farther than the blue one.
-Magic Boomerang: Grenade boomerang. Explodes when it hits (except if it's on its way back to Link) an enemy or item that can be picked up by the boomerang. If it hasn't exploded when it gets back to Link, it explodes in his face.
-Fire Boomerang: Super Grenade boomerang. Still has the fire trail, but acts like the grenade boomerang, also. However, the explosion is bigger and more powerful.
-Bait: Super bait. This is much stronger than the normal bait. It will attract enemies a lot better. All this was in Beta 176. Question. Considering that this beta is actually EARLIER than the current public beta, 182/183/184, would it be possible to release beta 176 to the public, just to try out those new items? Think how much fun they would have with it! :kawaii: Since there's already a "safer" version out there, nobody would want to "upgrade" (downgrade, of course.) their quests down to 176. Does anyone still have this beta on their hard drive? ... Jigglysaint? :p

Sorry, but the curiosity is virtually overwhelming.

Well with the pending release of Zelda, Minish Cap, I think adding remote bombs as an upgrade would be a great idea. The other items should be upgradable as well. Upgrades should do somthing like set a usage bit rather than give new items. Maybe what it can do is maybe there's a quest rule where getting multiple instances of an item will upgrade that item. Each item could then have 3 levels or somthing similar to that. I'm sure it won't be hard to figure out level 2 upgrades for most of the items.

or maybe, for stuff like the "flamethrower", when magic is depleted (or rupees), the item reverts back to the item that the player had before it. it could go Blue Candle > Red Candle > Flamethrower > Red Candle, you know?

OMG, thanks Ganonator! .... So 178 has the same features as 176?

EDIT: Bugs. ... (Obviously squashed already.) 1) Zelda-w.exe won't open, no matter what I do. Obviously, this stops people from playing with the features. :p 2) In ZQuest, when you click on the menus, they disappear instantly, despite being "out." I just worked around that though.

Is there a DOS version out there anywhere?

I like the idea of the changed potion--however, such a potion should be an item that enemies can drop (probably would drop as often as a clock, which isn't often at all) and the effects would take place as soon as link picks it up. I dont think it should make him randomly use items--however, it should make the screen wavy (And by this, i simply mean the same effect as that one insta-warp type where the screen goes wavy). This would be cool to distract the players--maybe it lasts until link leaves the screen or you could have a quest rule: "Temporary Poison" which, like Temporary Clocks, makes this item act only for like 5 seconds or so.
