Error loading sfx.dat

I installed a fresh new copy of Zelda Classic v1.92 Beta 183 on my computer and got it to run fine. Then I downloaded the sfx.dat file that replaces the sounds from that of Zelda 3 and I get this error inside the allegro.txt file

Loading data file ... Error loading sfx.dat

I just put it in my ZC folder backing up and overwriting the old sfx.dat file. Does it not work since allegro was recently updated, or is there some setting that I need to change here?

There is a bad LTTP sfx.dat on Alphadawgs site, I assume that is the one you got ahold of.
Ganonator has a good one on his site.
sorry I don't have the addy, you might search out one of his posts and get it from his sig.

I searched through all my backup files i had of Zelda Classic and eventually found a working version.

All the download locations you can get the file are dead. I wish I can host it myself so people can download it, but I just don't have the filespace.

Maybe someone would like to do this? Searching on Google doesn't help you find the file at all.

You could use the sfx.dat I released with Search for Elise.
It's in my sig, top link, located on the search for Elise page.
It has many of the lttp sounds plus some others.
