Help... me...

I just don't want to pay for something that wasn't my fault in the first place. A.k.a. the spyware and adware removing junk. I've downloaded like eight and the only free thing about them was the scan part, and my comp has become twice as slow in the past three months. I was just wondering if someone could download one of those and rip the registration from it and pass it to people. That would be cool... :D

Is it really that much of a problem to get one that scan and removes? I currently have to spyware remover that work quite well. One is Spybot - Search & Destroy and the other Ad-a-ware.

Eh? I want one I don't have to pay for. I'm broke.
If you do know where one is that just happens to be free (scan AND remove, most you have to pay for to enable removing) then please hyperlink to da page. That would also be great.

Didn't buy them. Actually I'm not sure how I acquired them. My brother was reponsible for that. I'll ask him.

Spybot Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html) (Dedicationware/Donationware)

AdAware (http://www.lavasoft.nu) (unlimited trial with moderately useful features disabled)

If you are using anything but those, odds are you downloaded spyware disguised as a scanner. Especially if it's one you are paying for.

I hear PestPatrol is hot stuff, but it's not free so I don't really use it.

*edit*

If following the steps in this guide (http://www.broadbandreports.com/faq/8428) don't solve your problem, your computer is possessed with ghosts.

I've never recieved spyware or adware. Most of it comes down to common sense. My sister on the other hand, has. I think i used Ad-Aware to clean it up once, but alot of the time, its as simple as deleting the files and the activating registry keys.

Actually, might i suggest a program called HiJack This! Although i am gonig to warn you, you do need to know atleast a little bit about computers and how Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer operate from being integrated... otherwise you might remove something that you need in order to keep your system running... but i would highly suggest Hijack This! but just so you know, it doesnt scan for ANY spyware, it just shows you what your Browser Helper Ojbects are, and some other processes that are related to explorer. but its not a spyware scanner per-say

You should follow the guide I posted. It details how to run spyware scanners, virus scanners, trojan scanners, and if that doesn't work, tells you how and where to post a Hijack This! log so people can help you track what the problem is.
