Since I got home from camp, whenever I startup my computer this alert pops up saying that IE has been upgraded with a new toolbar from websearch. I always say no, and no again in the conformation. What is this and how do I get it to stop popping up? (so you know it pops up before I even open IE)

Oh no, CoolWebSearch (what it sounds like) is one of the tougher spyware things to remove. Refer to this thread (http://www.broadbandreports.com/faq/8428) at broadbandreports. Follow its instructions and pray.

I have something like that only that it just automatically appeared on my toolbar. It's something called "mywebsearch" and I can't get rid of it. I think my brother accidentally did something like download a program. H e always does that. That's how he broke our old computer.

READ THE ARTICLE I LINKED TO. If you follow those steps (up until the submitting spyware stuff) you will be free of pretty much everything, there's some variant out there now that has like a 12-step removal process but it's special and kind of rare.

STOP CLICKING ON POPUP ADS. I find 90% of spyware comes from popups.

"INSTALL OPERA\FIREFOX\MOZILLA PROBLEM SOLVED"? Maybe not. Each (http://secunia.com/search/?search=Mozilla) has (http://secunia.com/search/?search=FireFox) their (http://secunia.com/search/?search=Opera&w=0) faults (http://secunia.com/search/?search=Internet+Explorer&w=0). Surprisingly (not to me) enough, Opera has more alerts than IE.

Browse like the internet wants to hurt your computer. I'm running IE, "world's most dangerous browser" and since my reformat I have had 0 instances of spyware because I stopped just trusting anything that looked legit, I research things before installation.
