Help with MIDI

About say, 2 years ago, on my old computer, when I used to make rpg's via rm2k, whenever I would listen to midi's, they pretty much almost sounded "real", like high quality and didnt sound like it was a cheap midi, it sounded pretty good (i think i expressed that enough)

But now I have a better computer, but the midis sound extremely fake! Is there a special driver or program i need to download in order to get this back? Man I miss the good ol days.

maybe try getting the latest version of windows media player or getting a new sound card?

It's the sound card. You might be able to download soundfonts, if you have the proper software. Soundfonts let you choose how your MIDI instruments sound.
