yeah, spybot can help with that too. It's protected me from almost every pop up so far, the only ones I get now are those covert ads.:p

I get them quite a lot. It really starts to get to you. But, I've began to consider Mozilla FireFox. From what I've heard around the 'Net, it helps a lot to prevent pop-ups.

I tried that firefox thing and I downloaded it. Does it start to work automatically? Or, do I have to do something?

Use this instead of IE or Firefox. Smaller download than Firefox + the features it has :p http://www.avantbrowser.com

FireFox and Avant Browser are alternative browsers. To use either open them and browse the web with them. I only really push Avant over Firefox because of a little paradox that happens. See, a lot of people like to go "haha you got a security hole because you don't windows update regularly" AND they say "haha you got security holes you use IE; use Firefox instead." Well, you cannot use windows update through Firefox AFAIK, so you'd have to open up IE every now and then to go there. If you are not using Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com), you better start now.

Although your description makes me wonder if it is Windows Messenger Service spam. In which case this utility (http://grc.com/stm/ShootTheMessenger.htm) will do what you need.

You may be talking about the popup messages that are randomly sent using 'NET SEND'. If you are running 2000/XP, just go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools. Choose services, then stop and disable 'Messenger'. This is not MSN messenger, it is something entirely different.

I was getting those messages, some crap like..

Message from DIPLOMAS on xx/xx/xxxx at xx:xx:xx

GET YOUR FREE DIPLOMAS blah blah...

doing what i said above disables net send services, so you wont recieve that crap.
