Anyone know any good free webhosts that you can directly link to that can hold media(music, movies) and pictures? My current host doesnt allow media into my site, so i need to link the current mp3 i want to play in the background to a good host.

mp3's are rather large to play in the background of a page...

geocities, angelfire, freewebs... (.com)

http://www.free-webhosts.com/ <-- a crappy listing of webhosts...

The phrase good free webhost is an oxymoron as far as I am concerned.. Your best bet is to become friends with someone who will give it too you for free.

Good free web host don't exist in my experience. Of course, it depends on what kind of site you are planning to make. Just remember, price is proportional to quality.

I use Angelfire. I just got sick of Geocities. And background music is really annoying on pages.

Good... free... web.. host? What kind of crazy talk is that?
There are no real good free web hosts, but severeal decent ones. If you simply need a place to stick a web page, Geocities or Angelfire work well. But if you need good space for bckground music or large files, you need payed hosting.

ok nevermind, no help here :p

I found one, and you can check the free services part at http://www.hostultra.com/freehosting.html
And my music is "embeded" in the background, so you can stop it if you wanted to.

If I open a webpage, and it starts to make noise, I Ctrl+F4 it instantly. I don't bother looking for a way to stop the noise.

If you want it to be non-annoying, you need to provide a way to start it if you want to.

There is a play/pause/stop button on the bottom of the page. That's what I meant by embed ;)

Before I got paid hosting, I used web1000 (http://www.web1000.com) and it is by far the best hosting for free. There are no ads and you can directly post images anywhere. You need an ftp client, though. But in the long run, using an ftp is the best way to do it.
