Swimming for items

Can anyone tell me how to put items in the water so you have to swim and dive to get it?

I tried putting the item normally in water then I put the flag "Dive for item" on it and when I test it, the item is on the surface. Help!

you (i beleave) have to go into "room type" and select "special item". select your Special Item and then put the dive for item flag where you want it to be underwater.
