Today on Yahoo! news, they put an article that some scientists actually saw a star being ripped apart by a black hole. There were no actual pictures, but an artist did draw what it may look like. It's very interesting; the theory of black holes may not be a theory anymore.

I saw this on Slashdot, was going to post a link but then slashdot stopped working on me. Oh well.

Still, this is pretty awesome. Its not proof positive, buts its a good step forward for anyone who supports the black hole theory.

So obviously, there is going to be opposition to this proving the black hole theory. For those that oppose it, what would you say happened here?

* Thinks about comparing black holes to getting married to Josh Milton. It does nothing but suck. *

I should show this to my dad. I think he'll be very interested in it. Thanks. ;)

I've always wondered about black-holes. Just the idea of some energy force sucking in everything rather than reflecting it, and not knowing what becomes of it... deep... :odd:

An entire system being blown away into nothingness... Damn, we live in the coolest universe, ever!

Who has ever denied the existence of black holes? :eyebrow:

The people who want you to buy this article deny it.

I heard a while back on the dicovery channel that scientists believe that there are at least a dozen black holes in the center of our galaxy. One of wich is really huge. They even had pictures from a telescope(can't remember which one) of about 5 dark circular objects pulling all the stars in the surounding area towards them.

So who knows, they may just be really big planets. Besides who is to say they don't exist. There really is no proof they don't exist.
