I know people have complained about hotmail before, but I think I'm finnaly done with them. I've started to recive deliver failure notices for spam mail that I didn't send. Somebody's been attaching my address to their mails. I know that it's hard to track down the origin of the message when the header has been hacked, but I was hoping that there would be something they could look into to protect their users. The link for customer support doesn't work, and whatever address it was I sent my compalint to hasn't replyed. So unless anyone has some suggestions of what I can do about this, I think it's time to retire the 10yr old hotmail account and find something decent.

Stop using hotmail. Switch to Yahoo, or Lycos if you want. Both are infinitely better than anything hotmail could ever be.

That problem is not related to Hotmail. It is a sign of the Mydoom virus, I believe. I have gotten a few of those at my email address, which is not Hotmail. Just delete them, do not open any attachments.

Yahoo's pretty good, but they've been throwing more and more ads into their service. It's beginning to get annoying - and would probably take quite a while to load on a dial-up service.

I've had it with all free e-mail in general. There is a new trend emerging where sites you have to register to don't accept Hotmail addresses. I have to use my main e-mail, which results in more spam.

I use Yahoo, set so that the default lanugage is German. It's got a 6 MB storage, instead of a 4 which they give out now, because I registered it in either late '99 or early '00. I have Mozilla set up to block images from most of the websites that serve ads. I also have a file I downloaded that blocks images from ad sites.

heh, I had a few of those once in a while, but even before the mydoom thing.
here's a pic of one of the emails I got (I knew the address of the person who sent it, and I also knew that it wasn't him who wrote it, obviously.)

I've gotten my ISP e-mail set up, so I'll use that for personal mail, but it's hard to tell what websites are "safe" to give your email address to.

The simple answer is none of them really are. If you want to keep data safest, don't enter it into a computer. If you want to keep it safer, don't get online. If you just want to keep it safe, don't give it out online.

I never tryed hotmail just because of what i heard about it. I heard it is like the worst e-mailing program there is. Is it really that bad?

It's not really that bad, but expect spam, as will almost all free e-mail services.

If you want free e-mail with no spam, use www.safehome.net.

EDIT: Never mind, looks like it's down.

I have never used it, (And therefore have no apparent complaints against it.) except Milton is spamming me from it. I wonder if it's possible to E-Mail Hotmail.com Milton's IP address and tell them he's spamming, so they can remove his entire IP range access rights. Think it's possible?

If they can't do that, THEN I'll have complaints against Hotmail!
