I know you were all just dying to see what my new apartment looks like, so I took a few pics after picking up my keys yesterday.
For those of you that aren't "in the know", I'm moving into my first apartment because the commute from home to the campus was just too long.
I found this apartment complex right near the campus (.6 miles away to be exact) that was relatively cheap ($525/month) and lower on the "pothead" and "party" populations than other apartments in the area.

The front door with a lovely view of the retirement home across the street (not shown here).

Living room & dining area.

Kitchen, pre-cleaning. I love how renovators keep things tidy.
Note the fags in the frappuccino glass.

The spiral stairs. This is what sold me on the apartment. ;)
The carpeters still have to come back and tack the stairs carpeting.

My bedroom with overlook to the living room.

What I have to go through each time I want to leave the college area.
EDIT: As a bonus, try and guess the make and model of vehicle I own form this pic.

All in all, not as bad as some apartments I've visited and it's just shy of walking distance to classes.

A spiral staircase is very difficult to drunkenly stumble up.

Looks nice, but the staircase doesn't look very strong to me, I'd be leary about using them. What does the rest of the place look like? (bathroom, bedroom, etc)

For some reason, I absolutely love spiral stairs... The rest of the apartment looks really nice, makes me wanna pack all my shit from my 10'x8' room into that place and kick your ass out... but I can't cuz I'm not that mean. Nice

Place looks sweet. The spiral stairs rules :D Just make sure there isnt anyone fat and drunk at the top so the people on the stairs wont get smashed by the person rolling down the stairs.

I've gotten a couple comments about the stability of the stairs.
As far as I've seen, it has supported a 220lb person just fine. I've also tried jumping on the landing a couple of times and it didn't budge.

And as for dead links, these images are being hosted from my PC. My ISP (Cox) has been known to have frequent outages, so that was probably what happened.
That or you just suck.

Oh yah, I forgot to mention in the first post that I have one of the newly remodeled units.
New carpets, tile, counters, knobs, lighting fixtures, and paint job.
The only things obviously dated are the stove and dishwasher, but who needs those when you have a Quizno's right down the street. ;)

Very nice, Kryten!! I'll take "rental beige" everything over the dark wood panelling and psychotic green-n-gold wallpaper of my first solo apartment.

that spiral staircase rawks!

Just remember: a house isn't a "home" until someone spils beer on the carpet....

:D

I too like the spiral staircase.
It is a nice touch and something you don't see everyday.
Good luck to you being on your own.
