Wheather this is old news or not, I don't know...

Anyway...Nintendo decides to attach tropical drums to a GC and a game that stars DK...

Clicky. (http://www.gametrailers.com/gt_vault/t_donkeykonga_jp.html)[VIDEO]

EDIT: Perhaps inori could shed some light on this, as this is only a japanese release.

Well, i couldn't see the movie, but i have also heard somthing like that, ive seen pictures that shows Donkey and a "noteboard" or something.. it will probably be like that maracass game to dreamcast, there you use the maracass to make diffrient tones and sounds..:confuse2:

Well Well! It looks good so it better be good!

It's apparently a spin-off of a Namco series of similar gameplay, basically adding Donkey Kong characters to the game. www.1up.com had a article on this series. Here's the article

EGM had a small article on it, and its deeply involves Japanese music, so it'd have to undergo a lot of localization if it were to come to the U.S.

You should be able to buy it from http://www.videogamedepot.com

On the screen, certain colors represent different drums, and another represesnts both. It visually looks like DDR, only the info scrolls from right to left. And there is no dancing wire frame in the backround...*shudders*

Thanks for the info Mak-X, though I have no interest in buying it, I did find the review to be quite amusing, along the entire concept of the game.

From what I've heard, Donkey Konga is similar to Namco's own Taiko no Tatsujin game. Same instrument, actually (although Taiko only uses one drum, I think).

Interestingly enough, Namco is the one who's actually programming Donkey Konga. Doesn't surprise me, since they've done music games before, whereas Nintendo hasn't.

And DDR is the only music game I can think of that ever had 3D character models in the background ;). They were removed from the arcade versions as of MAX, though they've been put back in the home versions of MAX2 (US version only) and Party Collection (JP), although I believe both games offer the option to turn them off.
