Seeing as a lot of free hosts don't offer 24/7 remote image linking (freewebs; geocities), what you must do is open the image in notepad or something, and save it as a text file. Then, just do something like this:
<img src="http://www.geocities.com/user/picture.txt">
It seems to work pretty well.
