Screw the federal do not call list. The Mississippi Public Service Commission announced $810,000 in fines (http://www.clarionledger.com/news/0310/29/ma02.html) against two out of state companies today. Finally, I can be proud of something my state did.

And thusly they begin to realize that they no longer own our telephone lines anymore...

$800 for a copy of the Do-Not-Call list? Man that's expensive reading!

Just something I randomly noted. I do hope that this list ends up working like it was hyped to.

I'm also curious as to how this will effecting the marketing atmosphere in companies which rely on telemarketing, as well as the effect on all those people who depend on their telemarketing job for income. It can't be a fun job to do that 8 hours a day...

I think it's a good idea to charge for the list. It means the company has 3 choices: Don't pay for the list and risk getting fined heavily, pay for the list and call the people not on it, or avoid people in Mississippi entirely.

I hope they choose the latter.
