View Full Version : A script I'm pretty proud of: Color fader

Yesterday I wrote a text fader that blends text from one color to another. It took me quite a while because I had problems with the math. It was causing the next values for R/G/B to be above 255 if there wasn't enough difference between the chosen colors. The fix was simple, but it took me a while to figure out.

Here it is:

Example: Orange to blue...

I'm pretty proud of it. I know it's been done before, but I'm still glad I was able to make my own. The JavaScript one I saw when I was trying to figure out my own was too complicated for me to understand, but mine seems quite simple. Fun scripting. :) Comments?

I think it took me about 6 hours to get functioning properly. I was getting really pissed with the math problem... I think that problem took me 2 hours to fix. :odd: But I kept at it. I've probably spent over 7 hours total cleaning up code and adding more features.

This is cool. I hate when people use someones creation to tell them that it works and you liek it.. wait.. fuck... good job

I added pulldowns for inserting basic colors. Now you don't have to figure out the R/G/B levels for colors like green or purple. ;)

Nice Job (check my Sig!) but there are some minor problems, It refuses some combinations of colors...

This is actually rather complicated to figure out, but I'm glad you hooked us up, Wild Bill!

It does? Like what? :odd: I've tried combinations far apart and close together, and it's worked properly on all of them.

Remember, if the difference between the colors selected isn't high enough, it'll repeat colors. For example, if you enter 0, 0, and 0 for start, 1, 1, and 1 for stop, and try to fade "test", "te" would be #000000, and "st" would be #010101. Maybe that's why it doesn't look like it's working?
