I got hit by it!
I had barely opened my eyes this morning and started reading my mail when I got notified by Symantec that I got hit by Win32.Welchia.Worm and that all attempts to delete or quarantine it had failed.
I checked my virus updates and found them updated. So I went to Symantec.com site and downloaded this little program Symantec Win32.Wechia.Worm Fix Tool 1.0.3 (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.welchia.worm.removal.tool.html) that rid me of it.
Here is the report I got:
The Win32.Welchia.Worm has been successfully removed from your computer!
The number of deleted files: 2
The number of repaired files: 0
The number of viral processes terminated: 0
The number of viral services deleted: 2
The number of registry entries fixed: 1
That was close!
What a way to start a Saturday morning.:sb:
