Flight games don't get much better than this...

I am constructing a new game called Wing Commander: Tachyon Force. I've got it ALL planned out to the very brim already. I've got the graphics of the "main character" ready, (But I'll need use of the mod tiles, I suspect, to get the character to be assigned different ships and such.) Yes, the main character is never visible, except for the comm screen. You'll be in the Ferret, which is the fastest ship in the Confederation league. The next ship you'll be in has yet to be discovered, as with the next one, but the next ship you'll be flying, rest assured, you'll be kicking SO much a$s. You'll also have 4 kinds of lasers, (Which the actual guns themselves will do more damage than the lasers, because they've been "upgraded." There will be, in this order, the Laser cannon, the Mass Drivers, the Neutron Guns, and the Reaper Cannons. (AKA, The Cap-Ship destroyers. :sb: )

The Mission follows strict Wing Commander series guidelines. There will be a briefing room with its own music, the hallways and cargo chambers should have their own music, there will be a bar, (Where you will get a date from the local Wingman and Engineer. Which one you befriend will affect your ship stats in the future. :naughty: ) The flight deck will have its own music. (I'm not sure how I'll do the ship launch sequence without doing a little timed cinema for each though. :eyebrow: )

Every time you embark on the next mission, you'll be able to hear the full briefing. Naturally, you'll be the Wing Captain, but choose to go alone on all the missions, which is purely a coincidence, and I wish not to tax the game engine. ;) But you WILL know what to do by the end of the briefing.

(This is where I stopped before. ;) Continue reading.)

The plot will be pretty cool too. But you'll have to see that for yourself. ;) I'll have you flying in freespace, amidst minefields, inside a temporal flux, (VERY dangerous. VERY, VERY dangerous.) and even better, inside abandoned spaceships! (Which, BTW, you will have a map for.)

The plot, however, will be the biggest factor in the game. You will be briefed like a real pilot. Your wingmen will ask questions, and they will be answered. It will have the proper music, depending on the mood of the mission. I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO FEEL LIKE THIS IS NOT A WING COMMANDER GAME!!!!!! Sorry to "shout," but this is my goal here.

I will be drawing ALL of the sprites and images myself. Nay, ALL of the TILES myself. EVERYTHING will be drawn by hand, by me. Not ONE SINGLE TILE, (Except the blank ones, obviously.) will not be drawn by me. You will see what I will come up with. I will not rip anything. I would have no REASON to rip something. So anything that you see in the game, will be my own, rest assured.

And I'm working on the list of items right now. There will be things like the TCM, (Tachyon Control Machine.) and the Neutron Blast Pods, (The super bombs, which will be restocked one per mission, and are primarily used in combat, which I hope is something which people will be relieved to hear. ;) ) There will be a magnetic Ship nose too. (PM me with TWO WORDS to get a testing spot in the future. Those two words must be the Zelda style item which this will replace.) There will be Missile Bays on your ship, which will, naturally, shoot missiles. You will not need to pay for anything in the game too. All of your items will be determined by the success of your missions, and the bases that you visit to continue the game. (A Pirate station might upgrade your weapons, while stopping in a Confederation Cap-ship (Capital Ship, the big-boys of the league.) will upgrade your Ship to a better model.) Stuff like that will really make the game come alive.

The combo pages will be interesting to do and build. Anyone got any tips?

>yawn< Announce with style- do it with screens showing you've DONE some of it.

If I were you, I'd do a Guardian-Legend style quest. Combine the best aspects of Zquest with the overhead shooter; AND revive one of the kick-assiest games of all time.

H..how many quests are you currently building, BH4?

You might want to go into a wormhole, enter a few nebulas, you know, the usual :p

Sound's pretty cool, I'd like to see how it turns out. Maybe get some screenies up in the next few weeks or so, other than that, the quest sounds great.

I think BH4 is on his 20th quest. :P

Completed quests? :D

C: I agree. Rest assured, I agree with you, that quests being announced should have screenshots to back it up. But this was intended to be a poll of some sort, to get people's thoughts or not. If they really want to see screenshots, that would show me that they wouldn't care. If they had Ian's reaction, I would be building the quest for Ian specifically, along with myself, of course. ;) (And I would input virtually anything that he wanted. :sb: Mwahaha... heh.)

Petoe & DFW: This, would probably be my Ninth Attempt. Let's see: 1) Leeched off of newfirst.qst in 1.90. 2) Leeched off of uncommonly found 1.90 quest, tried to build a home in it as a parasite. 3) Authos: Restoration of Lizya, assisted by my sister. This was my first "real" quest. It SHOULD be in JayeM's QDB. (Where is she anyway? ) 4) Prophecy. Flopped, but lots of cool newfirstian tiles. ;) 5) The Prophecy, stolen title from previous. Meant to build on the Original ML set. Turned into a MAJOR tiles fest, with custom dungeons. I REALLY miss that.. I was working on a Faxanadu Sidescrolling style dungeon for L7. That was really cool. :kawaii: I miss it so. 6) Facet of Worlds. You know the drill. 7) Blade of Ages. Temporarily halted, because I would rather do MY project that I'm interested in, rather than what people expect me to do. 8) Wing Commander: Tachyon Force. 'Nuff said.

Ian: Thanks for your support. :) Truly. I probably will have things like that. Have you ever played the wing Commander series? I know *b* / link3505 has. I'm also accepting any and all ideas from this, essentially.

Ielen: ... None as of yet. I'm hoping that Blade of Ages will be the completed one, but at this rate, my best chances of completing a quest is/are finishing Authos up in 1.90. That would seem like my best chance to actually finish a quest.

I cannot wait to see how this turns out! I tried making a rush quest before (like Rush 2049) but, well, it's in my failures folder o.O. lol. show us some screenies! I'd really love to see how you made some of the ships

off topic: *b*, your avatar is kick ass in the sense that it expertly crafts a seamless division between desert and town. Almost like an oasis. You just gave me inspiration for my own similar area! :D

OK, here's the rundown of the ships.

http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/http://www.freewebs.com/bh4/wc2Capconfederation.jpg
This is the TCS Midway (http://www.wcnews.com/ships/wc2confederation.shtml), which will be your primary base of operations. You will be spending the majority of the game here, so love it, or don't play it. (Actually, just love it. You'll see. ;) It's got a bar, a simulator, (Which breaks quickly. ) and a bunch of other stuff.)

http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/http://www.freewebs.com/bh4/wc2ferret.jpg
This is the Ferret (http://www.wcnews.com/ships/wc2ferret.shtml), the first ship that Col. Blair (The main character) will fly. It will be upgraded quickly though, into the Rapier. I already have the graphics done for the Ferret. Pretty slick, actually.

(No Picture Available Offhand.)
The Rapier (http://www.wcnews.com/ships/wc1rapier.shtml) is the second ship which you'll be flying. It has Dual Mass Drivers, which put a little bit of force into your weapons, so be grateful that you're no longer stuck with laser cannons.

http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/http://www.freewebs.com/bh4/wc2morningstar.jpg
This lovely ship is the Morningstar (http://www.wcnews.com/ships/wc2morningstar.shtml). It'll be the third ship that you fly in your crusade against the Kilrathi. It has the capability to use the Tachyon Control Machine, so you'll be using it in the Tachyon Anomalies that you'll come across. It's a pretty good ship, but it has been fitted with Neutron Cannons, which are fairly heavy, and so your ship will be slowed down a bit.

http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/http://www.freewebs.com/bh4/wc2wraith.jpg
This, is the Wraith. (http://www.wcnews.com/ships/wc2wraith.shtml) And boy, it is THE ULTIMATE KICKER OF A$S that the Confederation Owns. And YOU, YOU, will get to fly it near the end of the game. It's got the sweetest weapons: Dual Reaper Cannons, which slice enemy ships like a warm knife through margarine.

http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/http://www.freewebs.com/bh4/wc2Ralatha.jpg
This is the Ralatha, (http://www.wcnews.com/ships/wc2ralatha.shtml) the base of operations for your enemy, the Kilrathi. Rest assured, it will be a big boss battle. It has about twenty Flak Cannons centered on you at all times, so beware. It has also learned to shoot Tachyon. :sb: Watch your back, dude.

http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/http://www.freewebs.com/bh4/wc2strakha.jpg
This nasty ship is the Strakha (http://www.wcnews.com/ships/wc2strakha.shtml). It's the only Kilrathi ship known to possess a cloaking device, which it uses quite frequently. I don't think I have to tell you to be careful.

If anyone wanted a shooter to play with, they should've checked the ZCN Custom Quest Contest forum.:p

Its ok, Blonde. He'll never finish this game.

What do you mean by that? I don't see BH4 in the participant list.......

You're probably right, C. But I refuse to finish a game if I don't want to. If I find a project that I'm REALLY interested in, and I feel I am up to finishing it, then I'll finish it. Until then, I'm merely making tiles, building ideas, creating funky, funky things, all for people to use, should they want it. If you want to play a full version quest, then play someone elses. If you want to see cool stuff, and cool stuff alone, then play my quests. If you really hate it when people don't finish the quests, then don't play it, and miss out on a really cool experience.

Simple as that. :p

... And I never entered a ZCN contest. I wouldn't. I don't have enough time on my hands to do anything nowadays. That's probably why I've never finished a quest. Much like Nick's U2 quest, I would simply lose interest in favor of something else.
