No. Gameshark for PS2 does not enable playing of imports or copies.

The only reason you might think so is early modchips required you to use a gameshark to boot your ps2 games. Also the Gameshark will NOT. Mod required.

A thread started by moi ;)

But I was talking about Playstation 1 on my thread, he is talking about Playstation 2... a system which modding is more difficult, it's not a simple matter of swapping CD's at certain times and stuff.

Speaking of that, I have another question about playing those "backup" games with my gameshark, so if you would all take a look at that thread and scroll down to my recent post, that would be oh so kind ;)

Drac, your best shot might be the USB mod. It requires you to solder just 1 link wire. From what I remember you might need a AR/Gameshark to boot PS2 games still, but it's probably the easiest solution.

Although, if you have the right model, there is a completely plug in card that you plug into your PS2 motherboard to play copies/imports. It's pretty cool.

The usb mod? what's that?

What version of the ps2 would i need for the plug in card. I just bought my ps2 a couple of months ago if that's any help for the model.

I have a USB Mod just sitting in my room, if interested I might be willing to sell it, contact through AIM is preferable although Private Messages will be sufficient.

http://www.modchip.com might have some info. Like I said, it requires a AR to boot PS2 copies and a single wire must be soldered, nothing hard really. ;)
