I've been working for over two months on a big quest without backing it up (stupid, I know) and it just won't open anymore in beta 183 or any other beta. Is there any hope of saving this quest, otherwise I'm dumping it, because I will not want to redo all that work again. If I can't salvage this quest from corruption, I'm quitting it. Anyone help?

Gimme some way to get a copy of the quest file and I'll see what I can do for you... no promises though.

And you can go here (http://www.purezc.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=6&t=3925&view=getlastpost) for a handy dandy solution by Mr. Z. :p

I've got it, I'll see what I can do. While MrZ's idead might work, it's probably a bad idea. It'd likely cause even more corruption...

well, I'll do Mr. Z's idea only if you can't fix it first. So I'll wait on you before doing anything.

I used to have 163 but I deleted it, I'm sure you can find it. Maybe try using google?
Oh, the init data gets screwed up and more stuff 163 didn't have, it takes a while to fix but it's worth it ;)

You didn't say if it opens in zquest or the player, if it opens in zquest and not the player it's the version of the quest, it gets a ^ in place of nothing.
just remove that and it will work again.
don't add an "0" just remove the ^
mine did that.

Well, it seems I was able to completely recover DFWs quest with minimal effort, so if anyone else experiences similar problems, see that I get a copy of the quest and I'll see what I can do...

heh, thanks again fatcat. I'll be damned sure to keep back-ups more often, but if ever the case arises and my back-ups also fail me, can I come looking to you?

You can always ask. ;)
Doesn't mean I can always fix it... depends on how bad ZQuest screws it up. I can't be all the time fixing quests for people, but this was so easy to repair I don't mind trying to fix similar issues.
