August 27 marks the closest that Mars and Earth have been since nearly 60,000 years ago...

All about MARS (http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/allabout/nightsky/)

For me at 12:00 the planet was in the high South Eastern sky.
Vary bright, you can't miss it.
Here are some pictures I took just tonight.
They are not vary good because I just pointed and snapped.
I could not see through the viewer for the little light that is right next to it. Plus I was not vary steady.
Actualy was suprised to see anything.

Pretty cool if you like stargazing. Even if you don't it is still worth a look next time you are outside late at night.

Thats not Mars. That cant be mars. It looks more like a snake.

I have witnessed Mars thousands upon thousands of times through the hubble space telescope.

And that just...

Doesnt look like Mars

And why would this need explanation? (http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/allabout/nightsky/nightsky04.html)

Actually

Mars Fools =)

haha, I coined it. When Mars is this close to Earth , its a veritable April Fools day.

EVERYONE START DOING IT!!!

I enjoy stargazing. Wish there were less city lights and trees so that I could see the sky better. New York and those that lost electricity recently... I wonder how many took advantage of the situation and went out to see the night sky?
