Nintendo of America is running their Camp Hyrule this week (an online event with activities and junk), and one of the features is chat sessions with staff from Nintendo. So far there has been a chat with the Localization Team of NOA, and Audio Director of NST that you can read below.

That's pretty cool. I though you had to register and pay to do all that stuff?

(BTW, here's a cover pic of an online TWW comic :P They don't think Link looked like THAT do they?

For Camp Hyrule you just had to sign up for a My Nintendo account at www.nintendo.com and then sign up on Camp Hyrule's site during registration a week ago or so, its free.

I think Independent Zelda explains their take on their Wind Waker comic in the About section, they're taking their own direction with the art style.

Ha! In the localization chat, TSA asks about whether the Master Sword was created before the imprisoning war or during (due to discrepencies in two games), and one of the NOA_BILL says:

NOA_BILL: The question about the Master Sword is a tough one. Legends are things that are passed down over time. In the telling, certain details tend to... change.

That's what I said long ago in the Zelda Theory thread! :D

I think it might have been good to mention in his question the actually differences between the two versions on the Master Sword's origin, it might have made a little difference in their answer... in the Japanese manual it says

(translation by Zethar-II)
The Triforce itself can not judge between good and evil. That is because only the gods can do that. However, it could not just be assumed that only a good person will get their hands on the Triforce. For that reason, the people of Hyrule were told by the Gods to make something that would repulse any evil that may kidnap the Triforce: the blade of evil's bane. It was called the Master Sword, and it is said that only a true hero could use it. The Sages first had to search for the existence of the Master Sword and a hero to use it.

The U.S. manual reads

The Triforce, being an inanimate object, cannot judge between good and evil. Therefore, it could not know that Ganon's wishes were evil; it merely granted them. Suspecting that Ganon's power was based on the Triforce's magic, the people of Hyrule forged a sword resistant to magic which could repulse even powers granted by the Triforce. This mighty weapon became known as the blade of evil's bane, or the Master Sword. It was so powerful that only one who was pure of heart and strong of body could wield it.

The difference being the Japanese manual story was more accurate in saying that the Gods told the people of Hyrule to make the Master Sword to protect the Triforce from evil as a safety measure, instead of how the U.S. manual says it was because of Ganon that the people made the Master Sword. I think the reason they changed it was either that it was too religious at the time, or they just messed up.

But I agree, I just figured that with Ocarina of Time, since ALttP's backstory was a story passed down anyways, the way Ocarina of Time was lended itself to some liberties, it wasn't something that I thought was that important, since Ocarina of Time woudl be considered more of the live actual events, where ALttP only tells a story of the events. That, and they made ALttP's backstory into a game.
