Yep. For a mere 5g's you can (finally) own the much hyped Segway HT.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00007EPJ6/ref=ilm_rc_467090/103-8648799-9866225

Apparently, they are ONLY selling this on Amazon.com

....Erm....It's a good thing, I guess, but who is going to drop 5g's for this thing?

You know in a few years on TNN I know I'm going to see some bullshit show about racing these things and tuning them up to make them go fast. Or having special tires for them. Because by then the prices will come down because people will realize that the Segway is useless piece of shit.

the HT's? probably about 10mph...

the racing lawn mowers can go as fast as most go-carts (probably 50+mph)

I hear that... We have a family in our area that had that started up as a business... Charged people to compete, watch, you name it... Of course around here, the lawn mower is the prefered mode of transportation for 6th-9th grade boys that for whatever reason haven't hit puberty yet...

It's so pathetic how they hyped the Segway so much, then let us down like that. I felt violated.

And how exactly does riding a Segway make one 'obese'?...

Nobody would bother to actually walk anywhere anymore, they'd just take the scooter.

Yet another step toward the human body becoming obsolete.

They're ugly looking anyway...

Or use it in lieu of a car, which is more of a pollotant. Really, if it catches on, it MIGHT replace bicycles and scooters, but that's not necissarily going to make anyone fatter.

One important difference between bicycles and segways. Bicycles can go much longer distances, and don't need electricity to recharge.

If I recall right, Segways are limited to less than 20 miles travel in a charge, and aren't overly fast. They may be a nifty gadget to have, and an engineering marvel, but they lack practical application.

Plus there's a rumor that they explode if they tip over... (Sluggy reference, don't worry, it's only a joke)

If it actually turned out to be like they made it out to be in South Park (minus the gay stuff of course), then it would actually be useful. But these arn't, or at least they don't seem to be. Why would I use one when I could use a bike, or a skateboard, or even a scooter - which I wouldn't ever have to charge?

What we really need is an effective mass-transit system to eliminate smog and traffic jams.
