So I went down to Harborfest (http://www.oswegoharborfest.com) today and picked up an astro-jax (http://www.astrojax.com) from one of the vendors. It's these three weighted balls held together by a string and you use it much like a yo-yo but better.

With it, you can do things like this:

and this:

Or even, for those without lives, this:

Anyways, I bought one and I've been practicing because the guy at the booth said if I came back and showed him five tricks he would give me a free t-shirt. (http://www.astrojax.com/images/products/aj_shirts.gif) (What can I say, I'm a sucker for free stuff.)

So I'm learning 5 tricks, and I'll go back on Sunday and get my shirt. I may never use it again but I never turn down a challenge. ;)

I see people playing with astrojacks all the time, but it doesn't look like it takes much skill to pull off tricks. You just flip your wrist and they go! The balls do all the work!

Eh, I probably say that cause I used to yo yo. A few summer's ago when yo yos were "in" I got pretty good at it. The place that sold them gave out prizes when you completed certain tricks and got your card stamped proving you did them. The only ones I couldn't do on their list were "shoot the moon" and "double handed loop de loop" (only two people did that one the whole summerr!). But I can do "split the atom" and a few other cool ones.

Cool yo yo videos: http://yomega.com/Merchant/tricks/index.htm (I can only do a few of these)

This is starting to get off topic but I always think of Yo-yos (r) when I hear Yo-yo ma.
What is this Harborfest yo talk about? It's not too far from me maybe I will go.
