Look at the south section of this area, and compare it to you mental Image of a Zelda 1 Map. See the Twin Lake, Then the four screen lake thats east of it? The Layout of the beach, See where the graves are? Its like a Miniversion of Zelda 1.

Is there mention of this in an old statagy guide for Zelda 2 or something?

I can kind of see what you are talking about...but I'm not sure thats what its supposed to be.

Yeah, that's what it's supposed to be, a mini map of the area from the original Zelda. In fact, the rock you break to get the hammer is spectacle rock.

If you have a chance to read any of the Zelda comics published by Valiant from the late 80s/early 90s, they have a cool drawn out version of the Zelda II map with all the places named (including those from the first Zelda)
