I've seen that before, but it's still hella cool. Be sure to set your resolution to at least 1280 x 1240 before you play it.

I'm almost positive that it was automated, otherwise it would take waaaay too long.

I saw something similar to this.Someone remade all of Star Wars: Episode 4, but with different camera angles.

Isn't there a program that takes images (jpg, gif, etc.) and filters them into ASCII images? There was a thread about this in the Programming forum last week.

Right, taking an encode of a movie and running it through a program to filter it into an ascii image sure takes a lot of time. Whomever must have done that has no life at all, unlike us.

No no, it takes no time. There is a program on the net that can do it. A friend of mine showed this clip to me yesterday and it inspired me to go on a 5 minute search engine frenzy. What if found was this: www.jave.de . Everything is on there. This very much reminds me of textmode quake which can be found at: http://webpages.mr.net/bobz/ttyquake/ .

That would help explain how it was possible to do this in any decent amount of time. It was a bit biggish and slowish, but very cool to be sure.

If you go into Opera and view it, and adjust the web page size, it's really cool at 50%, and it seems to run faster on my POS machine.

Neat. Too bad I'm using my mom's laptop that I am not allowed to install anything on, otherwise I'd try the opera trick.
