20 years ago tommorow, the famicom was introduced to the japanese household...

i read a book that said the famicom (or the super famicom, i cant remember which) was supposed to be more than video game console. maybe they'll mention that later in the week...

The book might have been "Game Over" a history of Nintendo. There were plans to use the Famicom to do stuff like trade stock and order a pizza, many homes had this little computers that could be made to do this. I also hear that they are ceasing the production of the Famicom, the parts are getting harder to find is one of the reasons.

if the front cover has mario flying on it, then yes. i dont have it any more, i only borrowed it from the library....
there's another book i actually bought called "joystic nation: how video games won our hearts, ate our quarters and rewired our minds" i think its a history of coin- op game, i havent read it yet...

I saw the Game Over book with Mario on the cover at EB. If I wasn't buying a game, I probably wouldv'e picked that up.
Use the Famicon to order pizza? Interesting...
