This is suprising. It's actually a Christian website, objecting to an actual food item. That's not something you see every day on the internet.

EDIT: No, it's not. It's a satire of Christian views, like everything else seems to be on the internet.

I was browsing the rest of the site, and found this:

Need more proof? Just check out the main site.

No wonder so many people think so poorly of Christians sometimes.. Part of it may be that there are the overzealous who focus on the bad, and not on the things of God. Included in this group would be those who in the past railed out against rock'n'roll, and those who focus more on the evils of Harry Potter, rather than the good of the Bible..

I try not to be judgmental of others though, even if it's something that I wouldn't join in. For instance, I don't drink beer, nor do I smoke. But I have never condemned anyone for either one. (Beer isn't wrong in and of itself, and most smokers already know it isn't good for them.)

PS: Being Jewish is neither something to seek, nor something to be ashamed of. As a matter of fact, I fear the day the US turns against Isael, because doing so will mean we are going against a nation God has swore an oath to protect.. Like it or not, the Jewish people are the people of promise..

I gonna have to disagree. I'm pretty sure this *is* a Christian satire site, just made to look very much like the real thing.

Just take a look at some of the links on the left "Betty Bowers - God told me to hate you. Never without an honorary first stone."

Then there's the picture of women with the big hair that must've come from, I dunno, the 50s or 60s.

"Accept Christ and we'll throw in a free phone."

Then there's the "registered" trademark thingy on the word "Christian".

What is unfortunate about it all is that the popular opinion of Christianity is such that anyone would mistake this site for the real thing.

EDIT: Oops. Missed your edit Ich.

Indeed it is. Landover Baptist (Check out the name.) is a satire site, meant to parody people such as Jack Chick.

“I was laying on the couch with my grandson, and must have fallen asleep, so he was unmonitored in front of the television set. When I woke up, my head had leaned back over the side of the couch. My neck was craned in such a way that I was looking at the television set upside down. I reacted immediately to what I saw there, and was able to flip over and grab my grandson by his hair and fling him (http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news0303/spanking.html) across the room, thankfully, knocking him unconscious long enough for me to get to the remote control and switch back to Fox news, where they were showing Godly footage of our Christian troops blowing up ignorant Arabiacs.

Im sorry the first this i thought when i read that much was, "WTF?!"

You can find sexual refferences in anything, if you look hard enough. If you look for somehting, like that hard enough, the human mind will intrepert anything even remotely related to it as the item itself...

And this bit just made me laugh -

As True Christians™

Of course it's fake. Gah, I just don't know about some of you that took this seriously... The fact that it affiliates itself with

You know, I've been meaning to post a discussion of whether or not Harry Potter is evil/satanic handbook, but I can't decide whether or not the right forum would be Think Tank, religous debate, or general Bitching.

Back on topic, any mention as to how much a blow up church costs? Do you have to blow up the alter boys as well?

If it's in response to my post Jiggly, I wasn't making the point that the HP books were evil. As a matter of fact, I think they've been as positive if not more positive than most anything out in the marketplace of fiction, even if folks go a little overboard in their Potter zeal. Of course, I'd be interested in seeing what others think.

I've no doubt that this is satire, but something about its nature makes me cringe. It's not an aversion to religious humor, because I laugh at a lot of humor aimed squarely at Christianity, including humor which portrays the worse side of groups I identify with.

It has something to do with a bitterness towards Christianity that I sense within the details. It may also be that some people could see this site and get some false ideas about what Christianity is supposed to be, ideas which are already commonplace in parts of our society.

I still stand by my earlier point that some under the name of Christianity help to keep a false image alive, by getting overly zealous about things they perceive as being great evils, rather than focusing on the positives and being a light for others.

Condemning others will never win them over. You have to demonstrate that they need what you have by the way you act.

The whole thing sounds like it was written by the mom from Carrie. The sad thing is that it could have been written by a real "christian" as well.
