I'm not sure if this is in the right section, but I will ask anyway and it can be moved if seen necessary.

Okay, I wanna do some recording of music, but not having to spend money. So I wanna hook up a mic through the mic port on my sound card, maybe mix with some accompaniment CD's or something if I can't get other people to play the music, I'm looking for a somewhat professional-ish music recording software for my computer to record my own music!

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You can do that in 2 simple progs:

Cool Edit 2000 - Excellent wav editor/sound recorder + it has tons of studio doodads for realistic wav sampling and editing. It also comes with loads of presets so you can get started editing stuff right away, or you can make your own.

Magix Music Studio 2000 Deluxe - Has a midi studio and an audio studio. You can use the audio studio here to combine all your completed Cool Edit 2000 wavs as you see fit. Very easy to use.

You can grab cracked versions of both off Kazaa for nothing. :)

I use both religiously.
