Now, could someone PLEASE tell me where on this map I can find Dungeon #2?!? I know, I'm pathetic...http://www.planetnintendo.com/zelda/games_mainseries/zelda1/maps/quest1_overworld.png

It's in that green structure towards the east end of the map - just east of the desert, and just south of the rock with the cave in it.

Another question...

I just went to this hidden shop under a statue and bought a blue ball for 250 rupees. What does it do?!? It's not a usable item, but I thought it looked cool, so I bought it!

its a blue ring - i believe it reduces the damage you take by half

Heeey so it does! Now look! I'm all blue! Thank you very much!

And if you don't mind, I need more help for those of you available... hehehe.

I'll keep you updated on more questions as I play...

that is correct... say the mummies take 2 full hearts away before, now with the blue ring they only take 1 heart away...

TedHead, your questions are welcome as many of us are big Zelda fans, including myself, but please try not to double post ;)

btw, after you finish the game, you should try the 2nd quest (and maybe AlphaDawg's 3rd quest for Zelda Classic is you get that good :D)

Oh yeah, sorry about the double post... :( I didn't realize I did that till later.

What is the difference between the first and second quest?

And is there a good website anybody knows of where I can find a guide to this game? Like item descriptions and stuff? Cuz that would be helpful for the future.

And to update on my progress, I am now on Dungeon 5! :D Plus I got the sword from the old man at the top of the mountain. And I got my cool blue ring, but you guys already know that.

The 2nd quest has dungeons that are switched around alot. Level one looks like an eagle, right? Well in the second quest makes it a giant E. Just wait till Level 9 in the 2nd quest.

The 2nd quest is significantly harder. The overworld is the same for the most part, but dungeons are in different spots, as are most secrets and heart containers.

The dungeons also have a few new (or upgraded) enemies that include the sword shooting stalfos and red and blue bubbles (which take away and give back your sword), and a few others. Also, there are walkthrough walls and one way shutters. I've only beaten the 2nd quest a few times, and it's still hard for me.

TSA had a section for Zelda 1 until it went down for remodelling
http://www.zhq2.com. TSA can also blow through The Legend of Zelda (1st quest) in 50min!

www.historyofhyrule.com has a Quest section. They also have the NES Atlas sections for download.

Legends of Zelda http://loz.zeldalegends.net and www.thezeldafan.com has the Tips and Tactics guide

I have the Maps and Strategies foldout that came with the game here

I played through The Legend of Zelda over the last couple of days again and beat it yesterday, probably will go through the Second Quest for the second time within the next week.

Of course, if you're looking for guides for almost any game, http://www.gamefaqs.com is always a good place to start looking. :kawaii:

Thank you very much! All these links helped a lot, especially the history of hyrule one.

I'm well on my way to winning this game now... on Dungeon 6, have about 12 hearts, have the magical sword, it's all good.

I used to HATE level 6... well, I guess I still do, but not nearly as much as I did when I was a little kid.

You should play level 6 on a no sword game. Level 6 is so hard without a sword cause you need to get to the wand and have to go through many wizzrobes who can only be killed by bombs (if you don't have a sword). With the wand, you can fight many of the bosses in the game that you would've needed a sword to beat.

I just found the wand awhile ago. It rocks!!! :D:D:D

How do you kill a Gleeok with no sword? Do you use the wand for that as well?

Yup. If you whack an enemy with the wand (actually hit them with the stick itself, as opposed to the magic beam), you get the same effect as the White Sword. This works against any enemy you can damage with a sword, except Wizzrobes (which is what makes level 6 so hard when playing swordless) and Ganon (which means you can't actually finish the game without a sword).
