switching characters in Golden Sun 2

How do I put my backup characters into the active group outside of battle? I checked the booklet but it only says how to do it in battle.

Edit: My brother figured it out. Just do it like you switch them left and right in the status screen. The booklet should have been more specific. :shrug:

One thing I should point out (because again it isn't spelled out in the booklet): the characters in the back half of the party still earn exp, but only half as much as those in the front 4. So you'll want to make sure you rotate your party so that they all level up evenly (and trust me, there are a couple of locations where you will need everyone to be on a fairly high level).
