Lock Block question?

I have a question about lock blocks. I'm not sure if I'm doing them right or not. I'm trying to use it to have a key needed to open the door to the dungeon in my town. The problem is, the tile I chose to be the Lock Block looks fine in ZQ, but is messed up in ZC, and I'm not sure why. How do you set them up? I picked a tile to set as one, then put the tile where I wanted the it to be located. Is that right or did I miss something? And can they be used on any type of map or just in dungeons?

Lock blocks work like pound combos. Its "aftereffect" combo has to be next to it(on the right side). Lock blocks can be used anywhere.
