Easy, when you have somthing interesting to say, you say it.
When you see somthing interesting, you respond to it.
Otherwise you keep your mouth shut.

You could also call it reading and wrighting.

I don't post too much. Some people who started out even after me are a lot farther. I don't worry about it. Sure, a custom avatar is nice, but it's not why I'm here (and besides I don't have a good one to use ;) )

Posting a lot isn't everything...I always think its better to read about 10 forums for every one that I reply to... that way sometimes I actually have something to say.
