whenever I start up ZC (Windows 163) it drops my MIDI volume to 50%, whereas I intially have it set to 100% on the windows volume control. ZC automatically changes it somehow. Any ideas?

Sound on the windows version is always kind of quiet.

Is there any way for me to prevent ZC from lowering the MIDI volume without me asking it to?

Well, aside from changing in the ag.cfg file possibly(not sure), you can raise the volume in the game under sound.

I've done both of those...basically, I have the sound effects at 48 and the music at 255...I'm getting really sick of the current sound format. I'd rather have that fixed than adding all these random features to the game, like layers and whatnot. Layers are cool, but compatibility is way cooler. Zelda simply isn't fun to play if your sound doesn't work. I think everyone can agree on that one, am I right?

The thing that doesn't make sense AT ALL is why AC changes the systray/volume control setting on my MIDI volume from 100% to 50%...there's my problem right there.

Thanks,
Kevin

P.S. I realized that if I switch back to my desktop while I'm playing and raise the MIDI volume, it will be correct, but then when I switch maps/midi's in the game, it brings it back to the super-low volume.

I'm running ZC v. 1.92 beta 163 in Windows and the sound is just fine. It might be some curiosity with your system. Here's the relevant sections of my ag.cfg file for reference. You can check yours against this if you think the problem is with the settings herein.
