Item Question

I am not sure if this question has been asked before, but I didn't fell like digging through the archieves. I don't recall how you place items underneath tiles such as bushes and treasure chests. I know I've done it before, but I forget. How do you place items under bushes so you don't see it, but when Link slashes the tile or burns it or bombs it, etc the item appears and he can pick it up?
